Stepping Stone Landscaping's Activity Book

The team at Stepping Stone Landscaping needed an out-of-the-box idea to market themselves. We turned to print materials!

The Goal

As a family-friendly business, we knew the kiddos of the company needed something to keep themselves busy! It just so happened that at the same time, one of the crews found a real baby turtle on a client’s property, who everyone named “Bobby.” The idea to create an activity and coloring book was born, with Bobby as our main star!

The Strategy

Once we had our muse, it was time to create the storyline. Elle used a loose version of the owner’s real story of creating the company to write the plot of the activity book. Then, there were a few activities that we could create using online software. However, all of the drawings of each page were made by a local Richmond artist, Sarah Beam. We then used an online coloring book printer to bring the designs to life!

The Results

We have had nothing but positive feedback about these activity books! The goal was never to get new clients, but to be able to give our clients a print product for them to spend more time with their children (since the landscaping crews are checking off their outdoor To-Do lists)! The first day that they arrived, the Stepping Stone team had a table at a local swim meet, where they would give away lots of merch. They brought the coloring books with them, and they were a HUGE hit! Even attendees from the visiting team were curious about the company’s services after seeing them. Not only do the clients love them, but many of the employees do too!
